First Outing In Our New Football Kits

29th Sep 2022

Yesterday, Wednesday 28th September, our Primary 7 Gaelic teams attended their first Cuman na mBunscol blitz. Hosted by ourselves, in St Moninna’s GAC Killeavy, we welcomed teams from local primary schools; St Joseph’s Bessbrook, St Malachy’s Camlough, Clonalig, St Peter’s Cloughreagh, and Dromintee. Over 150 children had a great morning of football developing their skills and displaying their talents. The future looks very bright for Armagh football!

This, however, was a more special blitz than usual as it was the first opportunity for the children of St Moninna’s Cloughoge to wear their new team kit. There was great excitement in school that morning as the boys and girls got ready for their morning out. Not only were they one of the best football teams there, but they were also the best dressed too. A sincere thank you must go to our sponsors; The Cooney Family, Downey's Butchers and Deli, Finegan & Son, Greene's Furnishings, GT Massage, Killeavy GAC, NC Dental, Playrfit and Re-Gen. The children wore their jerseys, shorts and socks with pride.

A special mention and thank you must also go to Killeavy GAC and in particular Maeve O’Neill for making the pitches and facilities available to us. As a past pupil Maeve also came to support our teams, although poor Maeve didn’t get the chance to stand on the side-line and encourage as she was handed a whistle and asked to referee! It is great to see those links with school and club continuing.

The children of Primary 7 are now looking forward to representing their school and wearing their new kits throughout the year.
